Memorial Day Activities Lake of the Ozarks

Memorial Day Weekend is well-known among vacationers as the official start to summertime at the Lake of the Ozarks, and it's finally almost here! Everyone at Gattermeir Davidson Real Estate is super excited for this holiday weekend. We are going to feature some of the great events and activities available to you and your family this weekend, but first, let's get in the Memorial Day mood with a pop quiz!

  • Memorial Day was first known as Decoration Day.
  • In the beginning, the holiday only honored soldiers who had died in the civil war.
  • The northern states were the first to celebrate Memorial Day.
  • The southern states refused to observe the holiday until it was expanded to include soldiers who had died in any war.

PARADE OF LIGHTS:

On Saturday, May 24th at 8:30 PM, the Ozark Yacht Club invites all boat owners to come out and participate in a parade of lights to commemorate the phenomenal service and sacrifices of our military men and women. Boat owners are encouraged to decorate their boats in bright, creative displays. Prizes will be given to the best decorated and first runner up. These brilliantly lit boats will proceed along Bagnell Dam, in front of Willmore Lodge, and continue two miles along the Lake of the Ozarks before heading back along the south side of the Lake. This beautiful tribute to our Armed Forces should be a fun event for the whole family!

FIREWORKS:

Big firework displays have always been popular around the Lake of the Ozarks, and everyone is excited for Memorial Day to bring in the first big shows of the year. There are a few different venues you can pick from to get your firework fix:
  • Bear Bottom Resort - Saturday, May 24th
  • Tan-Tar-A Resort - Sunday, May 25th
  • The Lodge of the Four Seasons - Sunday, May 25th
The displays will each begin at dusk. Bring a blanket, a chair, a boat... whatever you need to create your ideal firework experience!

Big things are happening at the Lake of the Ozarks! This Thursday, June 18th at 7:00 PM marks the grand opening for one of the Lake Area's hottest new attractions: the Ozarks Amphitheater ! Ozarks Amphitheater Grand Opening - Thursday, June 18th In order to celebrate their grand opening, the Ozarks Amphitheater will host a fantastic concert with FREE ADMISSION to anyone who wants to come!
