St. Patrick’s day, also known as the Feast of Saint is celebrated on March 17th and is named after Saint Patrick. Although he is the most commonly recognized of the saints of Ireland – there is very little information about Saint Patrick’s life. He was born in Roman Britain to a wealthy Romano-British family with ties to the Christian church through his father and grandfather. It is also known that he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and enslaved at age 16. During his captivity, he had a dream that God told him to flee to the coast, board a ship and return to Britain.
