The original purpose of Bagnell Dam was to supply electricity to St. Louis.
From one end to the other, the Lake of the Ozarks spans 92 miles.
The Lake is home to approximately 70,000 docks.
There are 900 campgrounds around the Lake area.
When it was first built in 1931, the Lake of the Ozarks was the largest manmade lake in the world.
Today, the Lake of the Ozarks is the second largest manmade lake in Missouri (behind Truman Lake).
It took 20,000 workers two years to finish building Bagnell Dam.
Bagnell Dam is 2,543 feet long.
The Lake of the Ozarks holds roughly 617 billion gallons of water.
The town of Linn Creek is in its second location - it was moved after construction plans for the Lake of the Ozarks indicated that its original location would be flooded when the dam was completed.
